There are several reasons why people can't remember dreams, though the number one cause can be explained with some basics of brain chemistry. Chemically inside the mind, two different neurotransmitters turn dreams on and off. The first neurotransmitter uses acetycholine to begin the dream inside the cerebral cortex. The second then releases previously suppressed norepinephrine and serotonin to shut down the dream from the base of the brain. Interestingly, the latter two chemicals are known to be associated with long term memory, and because they are suppressed during the dreaming processes, it is believed that their absence during the dreaming phase of sleep is a leading cause of forgetting them soon after they happen. This is why long term memory cannot retain dreams for very long. So, therefore we recommend something to write with and something to write on to allow your short term memory to accomplish what you want in the morning, and that is to recall the theatrical show the Lord and your mind played for you the night before. | dream | dreams | paranormal | paranormal51 |
